Dr. Wayne Jones was a board-certified psychiatrist in Texas recognized for his leadership in advancing mental health care through clinical innovation and education. As a psychiatrist in private practice from 1974 to 2023, Dr. Wayne Jones treated major psychiatric disorders while also contributing to the broader field through more than 1,700 educational presentations. His public outreach and influence extended across medical, academic, and community settings.
Dr. Jones completed his psychiatry residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and went on to serve as chairman of the department of psychiatry and chief of staff at Richardson Medical Center. He also directed the Phobia and Anxiety Center of the Southwest and was among the first physicians certified in clinical psychopharmacology. His advisory work included speaker bureaus for Pfizer, Glaxo, and AstraZeneca as well as affiliations with the OCD Foundation and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
The co-author of peer-reviewed studies in publications including the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry and Journal of Anxiety Disorders, Dr. Wayne Jones also led pivotal clinical trials exploring treatments for panic disorder, depression, and anxiety. As host of the KRLD radio program Going Sane with Dr. Jones, he helped demystify mental health for a broader audience. Outside of his work, he finds creative balance through writing, dancing, and his lifelong passion for Broadway theater.
